My teenager has asked me not to come to every match

My son is U16 and has said he'd rather I didn't watch every week because he feels more relaxed when I'm not there. I haven't been shouting instructions or anything, so it caught me off guard. Is it better to respect that completely for a while, or is there a sensible way to talk about what's making him feel watched?
