How long should an U13 pre-match warm-up actually be?

Ours keeps growing and sometimes feels like a training session before the match.

Why are Verified Coach details private?
For U13, around 15 to 20 minutes is usually enough if it is purposeful. Begin with three or four minutes of movement and individual ball contact. Add a short passing or receiving activity that gradually increases the pressure. Finish with a small game or game-related sequence, then two or three short accelerations before kick-off. The players should feel warmer, sharper and ready for the first action. Remove long stretches of static passing, queues and detailed tactical coaching. The main tactical reminders can happen before or during the warm-up in very small amounts. Adjust for weather, travel and the facilities available. A warm-up is preparation, not a pre-match training session. If players are already mentally tired or physically flat before the whistle, the routine is probably too long or too complicated. Remove the separate jogging block and long passing pattern first. Build movement and mobility into individual ball work, then progress into an opposed possession or small game. Keep a brief finishing element only if it connects to the players' match roles. The warm-up should flow rather than feel like six activities.
