I've stayed higher like the coach asked – now how do I actually get found?

I've stopped dropping as deep and I'm getting into better positions behind midfield, but there are spells where our defenders and midfielders just don't see the pass. Should I keep holding the space, move to show them a clearer angle, or come towards the ball eventually?

VERIFIED COACH RESPONSE

Now the next step is to make the space easier to access without abandoning it. Start by moving off the shoulder of the opposition midfielder rather than standing directly behind them. A small movement across their blind side can create a passing lane that the player on the ball can actually see. Check whether you can receive on an angle rather than flat between the lines. Timing matters too. If you show early and stay still, the lane may close before the pass arrives. Move as the ball travels between your teammates so you appear in the new line of sight. You can also communicate with gestures rather than always coming towards the ball. If the pass still is not available, be patient. The position may be helping a teammate receive elsewhere. The answer is usually to improve the connection to the space, not to leave it completely.

Full-back perspective: the best 10s move just enough to appear in a new line. They don't always come ten yards towards the ball. Sometimes one step off the midfielder's shoulder is all it needs.

Player-Coach

Player-coach here and I agree. If you keep coming short because you haven't been found, eventually you remove the exact passing lane you wanted. Better to adjust the angle first.
