When does encouragement from the touchline become too much?

At U9 games there can be constant shouting from adults even when it's all positive. Is there a point where 'well done', 'keep going' and reminders are still distracting the children just because they never stop?

touchline shouting • parent behaviour • coach communication • player independence

Why are Verified Coach details private?
Count the voices a child is trying to process while they are on the ball. Even when positive, a constant stream of noise creates a crowded mental space that competes with the actual game. At U9, children need to solve problems for themselves, but a noisy touchline often forces them to look at the sideline for confirmation rather than scanning the pitch. Try a match where you and the parents agree to a quiet first half, only cheering for goals or moments of effort. Silence can be a powerful coaching decision. You will likely see players looking up more often and making their own decisions. Improvement looks like a player who feels confident enough to try a pass or dribble without checking the sideline for permission first.
