Watch the game with your own role in mind rather than trying to analyse everything.
Start with the defenders you are likely to play against. Which centre-back is quicker? Who follows the striker into midfield? Which one attacks the first ball? Then look at the spaces your own team is actually creating. Are crosses coming in early, are midfielders looking for feet, or are they playing beyond the defence?
Also notice the game state. A tiring back line at 0-0 needs a different approach from a team protecting a lead with everyone behind the ball.
By the time you are called, you should have two or three useful pieces of information, not a full tactical report.
The bench can be an advantage because you get to see the problems before you enter them. Use that time to prepare one or two actions you think will suit the game.
