Six-year-old only wants to score

My boy is 6 and if he gets the ball he just heads for goal. Doesn't matter who is free 😂. Is that something to correct at this age or just let him enjoy it?

Honestly, let him enjoy it for now. At six years old, that instinct to take the ball and drive for goal is exactly what we want to see. He’s showing confidence and a desire to make things happen. I wouldn't try to coach him into passing just yet because at this age, their spatial awareness is still developing and they are mostly focused on the ball right in front of them. If you want to subtly encourage looking up, try a 3v3 game where you award a bonus point for a goal scored after a pass, or set up two small goals at the attacking end instead of one. This naturally forces them to look for the open space without you needing to lecture him on the pitch. Let the game do the work—he’ll figure out that passing can help him score more goals when he’s ready.

At six I would be delighted he wants the ball and wants to score. The passing bit can grow later. I would not coach the confidence out of him.
