I keep stopping training every 30 seconds

I'm noticing that with our U10s I interrupt the practice constantly because I can see three or four things at once. The detail might be right, but the session loses all flow. How do coaches decide what is worth stopping for and what to leave until later?

When you interrupt every thirty seconds, you are essentially acting as the players' eyes and ears, making the decisions for them before they even realise a problem exists. For U10s, the priority isn't perfecting the technique, but helping them perceive the game's cues. Ask yourself: what specific piece of information do they need to notice to solve this? If they can see it themselves, you don't need to speak. To test this, try a 'free-play' constraint where you commit to zero stoppages for ten minutes. If the quality drops, use the environment instead of your voice; for instance, narrow the pitch to force quicker decision-making or create a 'three-pass' rule to encourage movement. Next time, instead of correcting the detail, try asking: 'What did you see just before that pass?' This shifts the focus from your observation to their understanding.
