I’d look at the distances around the striker before changing the striker.
If the 9 is receiving with two centre-backs around them and the nearest teammate is 20 yards away, the role has become almost impossible. One 8 arriving underneath, or the near winger moving inside as the ball travels, can completely change that picture.
The striker also needs variety. Sometimes they should pin the centre-back and threaten behind. Sometimes they can drop to connect, but if they always have to come into midfield just to touch the ball, you have probably moved the isolation rather than solved it.
I’d work on a front-five game: two 8s, two wingers and the 9 against a back four plus midfielder. Focus on what happens when the 9 receives.
Who is close enough for the next action? Who threatens the space the striker has created?
I’d fix those relationships before changing formation.
