Teenager has started gym sessions with an adult trainer

My U15 has joined a gym programme through a friend and the trainer is not connected to the football club. I am not asking for a medical programme, but from a football point of view should the club at least know what extra physical work players are doing outside training so the weekly load is not completely invisible?

Why don't we show coach names?
Yes, I would want the football club to have a broad picture of the extra work, particularly if several hard sessions are landing close together. That does not mean the football coach needs the trainer’s full programme or should start prescribing gym work. A simple conversation about which days are demanding, which are lighter and whether the player is also competing elsewhere can help the adults avoid stacking everything on top of each other. The players need to know they can tell you when the week has been unusually heavy without feeling they are making excuses. The bit I would avoid is a football coach trying to judge the safety or suitability of exercises they are not qualified to assess. If there is pain, injury or a medical concern, involve the appropriate qualified professional.
