Strong wind turns the whole game into adults shouting 'kick it!'

I would make the wind something to notice. Ask the players what happens when they pass or shoot with it and against it. Let them feel that a normal pass may suddenly travel much further or hold up. That is useful learning. You might encourage them to keep the ball a little closer when playing into a strong wind or be ready for the ball to travel quickly when it is behind them. I would not turn it into a tactical lecture about playing percentages. The danger with “kick it” is that the adults solve the weather for the children. At U8, one or two simple observations are enough. Then let them play and adjust. The conditions are giving them a problem they will meet again throughout football.
