pressing from opposition throw ins - useful trigger or too much detail?

we notice their full back always throw short to same midfielder and we could trap it. but if our winger jump early they just throw down line and we open space. how much would you actually coach pressing a throw in at u15, and what should players read before deciding to lock it in?

Why don't we show coach names?
I think it is worth coaching if you have identified a repeated, predictable restart. The important thing is that the players press the picture, not the throw-in itself. If their full-back always throws short to the same midfielder and your winger can arrive as the ball does, you may be able to lock play near the touchline. But if the thrower has an obvious ball down the line, jumping too early can open the very route you are trying to close. I’d give the players one trigger: receiver facing their own goal or touchline with support blocked. Then the nearest players squeeze together. Use it for five minutes in a game-based practice rather than building a whole session around throw-ins. At U15, small tactical details can be useful when they come from something you actually see in matches. The danger is collecting clever pressing routines that players cannot recognise quickly enough on Saturday.
