UEFA C Coach

Why don't we show coach names?
I would create more situations where the shot is obviously useful and let her experience success. If she can finish in training, the technique is probably not the main issue. In matches she may be choosing the pass because it feels safer or because she thinks passing is what adults want. Use 2v1 and 3v2 games where she sometimes receives close to goal with a clear shooting window. Do not shout “shoot” as it arrives. Let her decide. When she does take the shot, praise the decision rather than whether it goes in. You can also ask afterwards: “What did the goal look like when you received?” The aim is not to make her shoot every time she is close. It is to help her trust that finishing is a valid choice and that missing a shot does not mean she made the wrong decision.

My daughter needed the reaction after the miss to change. Once missing was treated normally she started shooting more.

Sometimes we create this by praising every pass as clever. A shot can be the brave decision and it is okay if it misses.
