How much do you correct body shape in a game?

I can see players receiving square and getting trapped, but I also do not want to shout 'open up' every two minutes. Is this something you mainly fix in training and live with on matchday?

Why don't we show coach names?
I would mainly coach body shape in training and use very short reminders on matchday. If you are shouting “open up” every few minutes, the phrase can become background noise and the player may still not know what they should have seen before receiving. In training, create repeated situations where receiving square makes the next action harder and receiving with a better angle creates an advantage. Then when it appears in the match, one cue is enough: “What could you see before it came?” At U12, body position is important, but it is part of a bigger skill: scanning, recognising pressure and preparing the next action. I would rather a player understand why their receiving position matters than perform a perfect textbook shape because the coach keeps reminding them. Matchday should test the learning more than deliver the lesson.
