Why don't we show coach names?
If the senior bench usually means ten minutes once a month, I would strongly question giving up regular U18 football every week. Being around the first team has value. The player sees preparation, tempo and adult standards. But match development still requires playing. I would look for a blended plan. Train with the seniors when useful, play U18 regularly, and join the senior match squad when there is a realistic chance of meaningful involvement. There will be exceptions. If the player is clearly the next senior option and needs to learn the first-team environment, a few bench experiences are part of the pathway. The problem is when “being with the first team” becomes the development outcome itself. Ask what the player is receiving that week: learning, minutes, role and progression. At U18, sitting on a senior bench can support development. It should not routinely replace playing simply because the badge on the changing room door is older.

Ten senior minutes once a month would not be enough for me to give up weekly U18 games. The first-team experience is valuable, but players still need to play.
