Defending throw-ins near our own corner flag is a mess

Keep it simple. Near your own corner flag, I want one player affecting the receiver, one protecting the run down the line, and the rest of the team defending the most dangerous inside spaces. The biggest mistake is everybody chasing their direct opponent away from goal and leaving a free player inside the box. I’d also decide who protects against the quick throw. Usually the nearest defender gets into position immediately while teammates organise behind. You do not need a complicated throw-in system at U14. Practise a few defensive-third restarts inside normal games. Stop only when the group becomes stretched and ask: where is the most dangerous next pass? The touchline already helps you because it removes one direction. Use that advantage. Keep the receiver facing away from goal if possible, stay compact inside, and make the opposition play another pass before they can attack your box.
